While Melbourne is well known for its coffee, restaurants, night-life and love of sport; locals and tourists agree that the world's most liveable city for the sixth consecutive year (The Economist – Intelligence Unit) has many other charms.

With a continued approach to forward thinking, the City of Melbourne council enlisted us to help enhance and evolve Melbourne Knowledge Week’s digital assets. This week-long Melbourne festival melds art, technology, business and science exploration; promoting co-creation and innovation to solve real ‘future city’ challenges globally.

Over 70 events occur within the city throughout the week have been designed to inspire curious minds to collide and collaborate to bring future-focused ideas to life.


Partnering for the event, we were set the challenge to create a destination for startups and entrepreneurs to showcase the city's approach to urban development, transport, mobility and sustainability for a series of open and engaging events city wide. The solution needed to act as a knowledge base and content hub, as well as promoting the City’s content to users from each of the identified target groups, regardless of their device.

With a premier events website for the first time and the digitally focused presentation of its festival program; maintaining the ‘City of Melbourne’ community feel, the User experience direction and ensuring Level AA Conformance to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 was paramount.


Building a platform by which the City of Melbourne can elevate the festival has been hugely successful. Better connecting with target audiences, engaging with users on a deeper level who are now able to voice their advancements and innovations across multiple industries such as science, creative industries, education, finance and manufacturing.

We now present content to users based on specific customer journeys and via event exploratory engagement and filtering, creating a world class digital stage user experience.

Diverse Experise

Our fine folk sit at recycled timber desks, type on keyboards powered by rechargeable batteries, walk on carpet made from recycled tyres and plastic bags. They breathe air created by an in-office garden and drink tea heated by an environmentally-friendly kettle.
