Profilr was born out of a need for an online tool that would allow employees and talent to connect whenever and wherever they require. Profilr is designed to replace the more traditional approach of seeking out 'jobs' via job listing sites. The benefit to Candidates is the ability to showcase their experience and attract the kind of companies they're interested in. For Employers, Profilr offers an alternative, affordable method to obtain quality staff via a process they have complete control over.
There is no advertising on the site or job listings, it's simply about connecting quality candidates with quality employers and recruiters.
An application of this kind will only be successful if it's seamless to use and is compelling enough for both Candidates and Employers to jump on board and continue to engage with. We needed to collect enough data from Candidates so Employers can gain adequate insight into whether they'd be suitable, but request it in a way that wasn't laborious or a barrier to signing up. Also required is a way to evaluate Candidates so Employers are continually able to look at the best and brightest talent on offer. Above all it must look professional enough to attract a high calibre of Employers and Candidates.
A mobile first approach was critical to ensure the application would have full functionality and be simple to use, regardless of the users device. We conducted rigorous testing with wireframe prototypes on a selection of users to ensure the experience was intuitive. The sign up process allows users to submit minimal information in order to get them using the platform. Integration with the LinkedIn API allows users to populate profile details directly from their LinkedIn profile, saving time and ensuring consistency in how they present themselves to the job market. Candidates have the flexibility to make their profile public or keep it private should they not want to present themselves as available for opportunities.
We developed a sophisticated ranking system to ensure Employers are delivered the most relevant Candidates when performing a search. This ranking is influenced by the number of profile views, the number of shares, the number of times shortlisted and the number of times the Candidate has been contacted. Of course the more a profile has been populated, the higher the Candidate will rank. We applied gamification techniques displaying the percentage of a profile that has been completed in order to encourage Candidates to continue developing their profile.
Contact between Candidates and Employers can be facilitated directly through the platform, ensuring the privacy of a Candidates contact details. Only those signed up with an Employer account can contact Candidates, thereby helping to qualify those interactions.
