“Its a pleasure working with Carter. They understood that our relationship was beyond client-supplier, it is a real partnership.”
OVERVIEW
Victorian Opera is undoubtedly the most innovative, creative and unpredictable non-for-profit opera company in Australia.
Victorian Opera evolves this traditional art form in fascinating ways. It stages opera featuring circus, puppetry, and spectacular 3D digital scenery. Each year, Victorian Opera stages rarely heard productions, operatic masterpieces, and new Australian opera. The company works with the most exceptional singers from across Australia and the world and has received multiple awards for its productions.
The Company’s digital presence needed to be inclusive and accessible. It’s clientele are discerning and wide-ranging; they expect a premium experience - not only while a ending a main stage performance, but end-to-end when interacting with Victorian Opera.
CHALLENGE
An antiquated digital platform and design aesthetic made their digital presence very difficult to update for delivering engaging content for their existing and potential subscribers.
Therefore, Victorian Opera was in need of a new and improved CMS and design, ready for the launch of the 2018 season, coinciding with their corporate rebrand.
Ticket sales are a significant online activity, and while tickets are not purchased directly, an need to apply an appropriate emphasis on this call to action has to be in our thoughts throughout.
SOLUTION
Seasons offer an opportunity to ‘redress’ the website to reflect the season and an opportunity to immerse visitors within the latest ‘theme’ before their offine experience starts. We've architected a framework that encourages users to explore, engage and, where appropriate, supported information with beautiful, relevant rich media.
Implementing of a easy-to-use and flexible content management system (CMS) in “Craft”, made creating, producing and updating rich content simple, allowing them to focus on storytelling around the season’s theme and productions.
We implemented a bespoke design on the external ticket booking service TNEW to closely couple the platforms together for the user.
Highlighting a forward-thinking elegance, we designed a seamless and somewhat unusual interface, modest enough to let seasonal creative be the hero.
"Three weeks after we launched the season 2018, data spoke: we almost doubled our number of users compared from last year at the same period of time and we significantly increased the number of pages per session.
The UX and Design of the new website surely play a crucial role in that excellent performance."
