"Thanks for all your hard work to get us to here. We couldn’t have done it without you."
OVERVIEW
Wilderness Society is a movement of like-minded people working towards a common vision: To support the life that supports us.
Their purpose is to protect, promote, and restore wilderness and natural processes across Australia for the survival and ongoing evolution of life on Earth.
Over time, their digital presence had grown organically into a fragmented message, and into a format that (in today’s digital landscape) hinders a user’s experience. Donations, finding information, and engagement had become difficult.
With a collective desire to put users first, led to a completely rethought platform and approach. Through consolidating locations and useful information, we’re able to provide people with a set of tools that simplify a journey to action change.
CHALLENGE
Public awareness of Wilderness Society is extremely low. Unprompted awareness (spontaneous name recall) is virtually non-existent. Unfortunately, there is no clear differentiation between environmental groups, with the exception of Greenpeace. The purpose of environmental groups is often unclear to people unfamiliar with the not-for-profit sector.
Green groups are lumped together with consistent stereotypes (some positive, some overwhelmingly negative), creating a barrier of engagement for organisations - ‘they’re not like me’ was the sentiment felt by some participants.
Addressing these concerns head-on was a challenge and priority,
SOLUTION
The digital platform has been designed to provide a seamless experience between the physical and digital brand. Blending high impact visuals, narrative, and purpose for visitors to donate.
By prioritising features and recommendations on our data-driven research, we were able to deliver features in a phased approach that best facilitated the required delivery schedule. Allowing us to develop, test and roll out based on user feedback and adoption.
The flexible design system, complemented by a pattern library enables Wilderness Society to grow the content and create new pages in-house, helping maintain a smooth and uninformed content framework. It also ensures any future alterations made to the digital strategy are consistent.
