OVERVIEW
Creating a purpose-driven platform with Black Dog was at the forefront of our thinking. An ambitious idea which demanded to be realised. Aimed at helping decrease symptoms of depression and anxiety while increasing well-being for young people aged around 13-16 years old.
The self-guided platform uses a combination of fun, interactions, activities and quizzes to deliver information across nine key positive domains, along with many relevant resources, both internal and external.
CHALLENGE
When undertaking this project, we understood the importance of delivering this platform and the opportunity this platform has to create a positive impact for those seeking help with their mental well-being.
In Australia, the number of people dying from suicide was at a 10 year high. The level of support pales in comparison with the growing demand in young people seeking services – especially those in vulnerable situations who are unable to find the help and assistance they need.
Together with the Black Dog team, we needed to make sure the agency of what we created was at the heart of the user experience and the information delivered in such a way that we met audience expectations, and information was easily digested and understood.
SOLUTION
Playing our role in improving students well-being with the very first online positive psychology program for young Australians.
The end result was a platform specifically designed to follow the mental health and well-being focus area of the Health and Physical Education Australian Curriculum.
The design system serves as a powerful, easy-to-use tool for delivering the right content in the right way. Qualitative data shows that the audiences have embraced the new design, with usage and repeat visits at an all-time high.
A scalable forward-thinking design and supports the organisation core goals. Enabling them to deliver information as it was intended and can grow exponentially over time.
Outcomes
• Evidence showed a decrease symptoms of depression and anxiety and increase wellbeing
• Over 10,000 registrations across the first 12 months
• The program has now been applied in schools across Australia
